The Wild Woods (with LED light)

Description

‘The Wild Woods’ is a 3D piece based on a scene from the well-known children’s book Wind in the Willows where Ratty and Mole get lost in the wild woods trying to find their way home and stumble across Badger’s house.

I have used elements from a variety of quilting fabrics, to build up a forest scene, affixed to foamboard to create a layered scene. Ratty, Mole and Badger are hand-painted on paper then glued to foamboard.

I have also installed an LED light behind the door of Badger’s house to illuminate the dark forest scene (see pic). The light is coin-battery operated, secured inside the scene, and is turned on and off by a button at the back of the frame.

It is in a hand-painted shadow box in a warm cream to go with the warm tones in the scene, and has hanging hardware installed on the back ready to hang on the wall.

I have used 2mm clear perspex instead of glass to lessen weight and lessen the chances of breakages in transit.

Size: 32cm Wide x 44.5cm High x 4cm Deep

Safety instructions:

This piece will be posted without a battery.

All care and responsibility should be taken when replacing the battery around children.

The battery can be replaced by removing the back of the frame, and pushing the scene out carefully from the front, the resecuring the back of the frame. It is not recommended to leave the light on. It runs the battery down quickly, and frequent removal of the scene to replace the battery will damage the scene.

This is not a toy and should be displayed out of direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

Do not hang over a child’s bed.

Note:

As this is original art, please display away from direct sunlight to prevent excessive fading.

All care has been taken to accurately portray colours and textures in each item. However monitors differ in their displays. Please therefore be aware that there may be a difference between what the item looks like in real life compared to your monitor.
