Heather Brown is from Melbourne, Australia, and now resides in Australia’s southern-most state, Tasmania. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy through Deakin University and is a self-taught artist. Although Heather has had a life-long interest in both academic writing and art, she has only just returned to art-making, taking up painting in various mediums and mixed media in 2023.
Heather works with a variety of mediums in different styles, around themes of home, and childhood. Heather’s most popular works are her illustrative, highly patterned watercolour interiors, with a growing number of people commissioning an original painting of a special place and time. Heather encourages clients to add objects, patterns or colours that may not necessarily be there in real life, but are meaningful to the person or people associated with that place.
Her aim is to create art that triggers happy memories and tender emotions, as a reminder of all the good and lovely things in life in a sometimes-heavy world.
Represented by Portsea Gallery in Victoria, since mid 2026.
