Description
In this category, I make one-off piece of art using magazine images of a house, cut out the exterior, and lay fabric underneath the cut out. I then build up a garden from a variety of magazine images to create a fantastical Alice-in-wonderland, or gingerbread house look. Double page spreads have a centre line, which I try to minimise a much as possible.
‘Elizabeth’s House’ is a one-off double page magazine mixed media collage glued onto cartridge paper. I have carefully cut out the walls leaving the decorate timber framing and glued some fun fabric behind and added some polka dot for the roof, and blue for the side walls. In keeping with the fanciful feel, I created a garden where the scale of the flowers is out of proportion to everything else. I have tried to conceal the centre line as much as possible. You can faintly see the print from the reverse side of the magazine page in the sky. There is some print magazine that says ‘Reader’s Homes’ in the top left hand corner which I have cropped out in the pic. Or you could frame it with the words in the sky. It is imperfect, and a bit of fantasy fun.
The pic shown here of a cropped image size 28 x 31cm. This piece It would easily fit into a 20.5 x 29cm (A4) opening mount, but you will lose a bit of the foreground garden. In this case you would need a custom mount.
Selling unframed.
