Rapunzel’s Tower (with LED light)

Description

‘Rapunzel’s Tower’ is an original hand-made 3D diorama depicting a scene from the children’s story, Rapunzel.

In a white laminate shadow box frame, I have created a fairytale scene using lots of different elements from Tilda quilting fabrics and on layers of foamboard. At the back of the scene is a tower (cut from a magazine), which I have cut in two and hidden the break behind the tree to create the illusion of a very tall tower where Rapunzel lives. I have installed an LED light behind 2 windows in tower (see pic). The layering creates lovely shadows at different times of the day, and the LED at night makes it come alive.

The light is coin-battery operated and secured inside the scene, and is turned on and off by a button at the back of the frame that sits flush with the frame. I have used 2mm clear acrylic perspex instead of glass to make this piece lighter and less likely to get damaged in transit.

This piece will be posted without a battery.

All care and responsibility should be taken when replacing the battery around children.

The battery can be replaced by removing the back of the frame, and pushing the scene out carefully from the front, the resecuring the back of the frame.

This is not a toy, is very delicate, and should be displayed out of direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

Do not hang over a child’s bed or within the reach of a child.

As this is original art, please display away from direct sunlight to prevent excessive fading.
