Description
In this category, I make one-off piece of art using magazine images of a house, cut out the exterior, and lay fabric underneath the cut out. I then build up a garden from a variety of magazine images to create a fantastical Alice-in-wonderland, or gingerbread house look. Double page spreads have a centre line, which I try to minimise a much as possible.
‘Gretal’s House’ looks like it has stepped out of a fairytale of Hansel and Gretal.
It is a one-off mixed media collage glued onto cartridge paper. I have cut away the cottage walls and roof, and glued a lovely bright red floral fabric behind, and a fun red polka dot for the roof. I have echoed the colours on the cottage in the garden. You can faintly see the print from the reverse side of the magazine image in the sky, and the centre double page line is visible in the sky also. It’s imperfect, but cute!
Paper Size 29.5 x 41cm. A standard A3 opening mount would fit this piece.
