Red Riding Hood (with LED light)

Description

‘Red Riding Hood’ is an original hand-made 3D diorama depicting a scene from the nursery rhyme Red Riding Hood.

In a cream painted box frame, I have created a layered scene using foamboard. These layers of foamboard are covered with elements from various quilting fabrics, and an image of a cottage from a magazine. I have hand-painted the figure of Red Riding Hood making her way up the forest path to grandma’s house.

I have also installed an LED light (same as what is used in hobby train set scenes), behind the top floor windows in the cottage (see pic). The light is coin-battery operated, secured inside the scene, and is turned on and off by a button at the back of the frame. It is not recommended to leave the light on as it runs the battery down.

I have used 2mm clear acrylic perspex instead of glass to make this piece lighter and less likely to get damaged.

Safety instructions:

This piece will be posted without a battery for shipping safety reasons.

All care and responsibility should be taken when replacing the battery around children.

The battery can be replaced by removing the back of the frame, and pushing the scene out carefully from the front, replacing the battery, and putting it back inside the scene, then carefully resecuring the back of the frame.

This is not a toy, and should be displayed out of reach of children.

Do not hang over a child’s bed.
