Winter in Narnia (with LED light)

Description

‘Winter in Narnia’ is an original hand-made 3D diorama depicting a winter night scene of Narnia.

In an ivory colour hand-painted box frame, I have created a layered scene using foamboard. These layers of foamboard are covered with elements from various quilting fabrics, and magazine images. I have also used a model lamp post, and painted snow dunes with metallic watercolour. To create the feeling of a wintery snowy night, I have suspended sequin stars from the sky on wire, and used silver and iridescent glitter for the snow, which catches the light effectively and looks brilliant especially at night.

I have also installed an LED light behind the window in the castle and in the lamp-post. The light is coin-battery operated, secured inside the scene, and is turned on and off by a button at the back of the frame.

I have used 2mm clear perspex instead of glass to ensure no breakage in transit.

This piece will be posted without a battery.

All care and responsibility should be taken when replacing the battery around children.

The battery can be replaced by removing the back of the frame, and pushing the scene out carefully from the front, the resecuring the back of the frame.

This is not a toy and should be displayed out of direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

Do not hang over a child’s bed.
