Victoriana Christmas Stamp

Description

‘Victoriana Christmas Stamp’ is an original watercolour painting from a reference photo, with large borders inspired by elements of blue willow patterns, to look like a Victorian Christmas stamp.

For this painting I have used Kuretake watercolours, Unipin fineliner and Lisilinka crystal gold and silver watercolour to create a glittery effect on the baubles, the inner scallop border and the latticework border, on Arches A3 size 300gsm watercolour paper. This painting sits on top of a sheet of 300gsm cold press cartridge paper with a painted dark blue latticework border with scalloped edges. The top and bottom medallion flows from the inner painting on the paper underneath giving the appearance of a seamless image. It is striking from the distance, and detailed up close.

It comes in a second hand, hand painted off white timber frame with glass, and with hanging hardware (D rings and wire) already attached at the back.

Total size including frame is 46 x 56 cm (18.1 x 22 inches)

Note: As this is an original piece of art, avoid hanging in direct sunlight to prevent excessive fading.
