Summer Days Into Summer Nights

‘Summer Days into Summer Nights’ is an original watercolour painting from a reference photo of a vase of late summer dahlias and other flowers in the home belonging to some of the members of the Bloomsbury group in the UK. I’ve drawn on motifs associated with the Bloomsbury group for the inner borders, as well as a current diamond design called Maru, in Linwood’s fabric range. The outer border of leaves is a nod to William Morris’ willow pattern, and is painted onto a pre cut matt. As the matt is a standard A3 size, it can go straight into A3 frame.

I used this Kuretake watercolour, Unipin fineliner and Faber Castell watercolour pencils on Arches 300gsm watercolour paper for the inner painting, and the same on the matt.

The still life has an experimental landscape watercolour on the reverse (see pic). You can’t see anything of the image on the back from the front as Arches paper is so lovely and thick.

Painting size is 29.7cm x 42cm (11.6 x 16.5 inches) including the painted matt.

Selling unframed.
