He’s Here!

Description

He’s Here! is a paper collage of the nativity in a simplistic style. I found this long gold frame in an op shop and immediately wanted to create this nativity using bright colours.  I used a basic pack of cardstock, two sheets of dark blue for the background, (joined in the middle and mostly hidden behind Joseph), and just used as many bright colours as I could for the rest of the scene. There was no sketches, drawing or rulers involved for the people, I just cut by hand and by sight. I chose not to put faces on the people either, as I wanted to message to be communicated through the simplicity of gesture. The most difficult part was the banner – I had to look up some stylised banners to work out what bit to cut where.

It comes in the frame as pictured. As the frame is second hand, please be aware that it has some scuffs and dings. It goes with the handmade slightly rough feel of the art. I have pointed some out in the pics. It has the original clear glass and has hanging hardware installed on the back, so it’s ready to go on the wall.
