‘Filled With Hope and Expectation’ is an original watercolour painting based on an Instagram photo of the Lancashire home of @robinhhlucas

With the bunches of Daffodils and Narcissuses, and the blue willow china set out on the table, I could imagine the kitchen full of the scent of spring, and excitement for guests who are about to arrive. I have carried the blue willow theme onto the inner borders with a blue latticework border, paired with contemporary stripes with a hint of ochre. Similarly, following the Spring theme, I painted a thick green leafy border onto the precut matt board.

In this piece I have used Kuretake watercolours, some posca pen and Unipin fineliner on 300gsm Arches cold press watercolour paper.

29.7 x 42cm (including the matt) (11.69 x 16.53 inches).
