Helene’s House

Description

‘Helene’s House’ is an original mixed media piece, that depicts a fantasy house in a gorgeous dreamy garden setting.

I start by finding an exterior of a house I like in a magazine, then I cut out the walls and roof, leaving only the structural lines and details like windows, doors and chimneys. I choose my colour palette from small scraps of quilting fabric, glue the fabric down to represent the walls and roof, and then glue the structural paper elements down on top to make the house. Then the hunt is on through a folder of snippets from magazines of gardens! I build up the garden slowly trying to create depth and a slightly dreamy, magical landscape. It’s imperfect, fanciful and delightful.

This piece is in a handpainted blue shadow box frame.

It has a thick clear acrylic sheet instead of glass to keep the weight down, and comes with hanging hardware already attached.
